Living and Learning
The quote above reminds me of the popular televisision show “Mission Impossible.” If the person receiving the tape at the beginning of the show had not accepted the mission, there would have been no adventure, no obstacles to overcome, no team interplay and no heroes. You have accepted a mission on this journey called life and you are designed to be the hero of your own story. For the mission to be successful, just like the show, you must surround yourself with supportive players, make plans with an end picture in mind, overcome obstacles and surprises, and believe in the mission. None of these tasks can be accomplished if you lack a belief in self.
The Big “Aha”
Until I discovered the inherent power of personal power, my life was a series of starts and stops. I always knew that I had the hunger, the intelligence and the imagination to succeed, but I always stopped in the middle somewhere. My big ‘aha moment’ came during a keynote speech in which I encouraged those in the audience to dig deep to discover their life purpose through their own personal trials and tribulations. The urging was “What you have personally overcome is the lesson you are here to teach.” The message was to examine the low points of life and the skills and tools we used in winning the battle as offering clues to our strengths and purpose.
My search for clues was easy as I have always fought the feeling of being invisible when setting boundaries, expressing my feelings and claiming my rightful place at the table of life. At different times, I was like a light bulb that was almost on the fritz, glowing brightly and then unexpectedly fading to almost nothing. Choosing to flicker at pivotal times during relationship and life crossroads. I discovered my strengths and so can you.
I am a Shining Light
I now know that when you are struggling with life, it is always about your perceived Personal Power and Conscious Personal Visibility. The reluctance to stand your ground in a relationship; to set boundaries with friends; to take that next step in business expansion – it is always about how you see yourself shining in the world.
